PROFILES OF FAITH

William J. Lambertson

William J. Lambertson grew up in a rural Kansas town where his family attended the small Methodist church.  A gifted athlete, he also enjoyed music and became proficient in playing several instruments, especially the trumpet.

Early in his life he sensed God’s call to the ministry.  Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled in college in Salina, Kansas, and later continued his formal education at Southern Methodist University.

Following graduation from SMU, he became the senior pastor of a Methodist church in Idaho.  After several years of successful ministry, he was granted a sabbatical.

It was during this time away from pastoral responsibilities that he was introduced to the Assemblies of God.  Within a short time, he resigned his pastorate in Idaho and became affiliated with the Assemblies of God.

During the ensuing years, he pastored several churches and also traveled as an evangelist.  Always quick to respond to God’s call, he followed wherever he felt the Lord was leading him.  “Living by faith” became the norm.  His family eagerly and easily adapted to being a “pastoral” team or an “evangelistic” team.

Lamberton was a man of faith and a man of faithfulness.  As recorded in the book of Hebrews, he was still “living by faith” when he died in 2005.

In 2002 he was recognized and honored for being a credentialed minister in the Assemblies of God for fifty years.  Although he is now in the presence of the One he loved and faithfully served, his legacy lives on.

William J. Lambertson was the father of Ladonna Weston (wife of Dave Weston,  the national director of Senior Adult Ministries).
